Nice pieces of spinel are difficult to find on the market since long time and this material is becoming scarcer except sometimes some Vietnam stones, too brown to find customers.
A new arrival of Burma spinels from a new mine brings excitement on our market, especially in these times of tough junta rule. Material shown on offer was in the 3 to 5 carats sizes a few stones weighting over 5 carats. All of this material was of exceptional color and clarity.
After a few weeks and quite surely a few bottles, all his material being sold, broker confessed that it was coming from Tanzania.
A gemstone with a tag from Burma raise far more offers than with a Tanzania tag.
Now we wait to see the smaller stones from this new african source to enter the Chanthaburi market.
