Chinese demand is still high and market is waiting for new material to come in town. Unfortunately Thailand is the main destination for rubies and as Thai buyers ran out of Mozambique being afraid of Ebola virus, new material is not coming.

This affects all African gemstones especially ruby, tourmaline (including most sought after Paraiba), mandarin garnet (spessartite), etc.
