Rainy season ended in South Eastern part of Africa and miners are back to work but there will be no decrease in sight ruby prices.
Chinese demand is still high and market is waiting for new material to come in town. Unfortunately Thailand is the main destination for rubies and as Thai buyers ran out of Mozambique being afraid of Ebola virus, new material is not coming.
Another fact which affects the trade is the fact that rough material is brought to the Thai trade by Guinean people. They are the main rough brokers for african stones and Guinea is one of the most affected country by… Ebola…
This affects all African gemstones especially ruby, tourmaline (including most sought after Paraiba), mandarin garnet (spessartite), etc.
